Not Quite a Happy Ending
An old woman lived in a little hut by the sea with her dog. Every day she took him for a leisurely walk along the beach, enjoying her remaining years in peace.
One day she stumbled over a bottle washed ashore by the waves. She rubbed it, and a cloud of smoke emerged and formed into a genie.
"Thank you for freeing me from my prison. In return, I will grant you three wishes."
Without hesitation, she said, "I want a million dollars!"
The genie waved his hand. Poof! She was sitting on a pile of money.
Looking at her ramshackle hut, she made her second wish. "I want my hut to become a castle."
Another wave, and the hut instantly became a magnificent castle with grand wings stretching in every direction.
"Wonderful!" she cried. "I've finally become a millionaire in my old age. But why stay old? I still have one wish left! I want to become a beautiful young woman, and my dog to become a handsome, strong husband."
Her wish granted, she and her new husband carried the money into the castle. At bedtime she said, "Darling, let's have a passionate night, just like newlyweds!"
His face fell. "Happy now, are you? Then why did you have me neutered last year?"
