Don't Be Too Hasty
A newlywed couple booked a luxury room in a high-rise hotel for their wedding night. At reception, the husband said eagerly, "We're here to check in. I booked the honeymoon suite on the thirty-fifth floor."
"Certainly. Here's your key," the receptionist said, holding it out to the bride. "Have a wonderful evening!"
Before she had finished speaking, the groom swept his bride into his arms and headed stylishly toward the elevator. The bride was overjoyed. But there were so many people waiting that he decided to carry her up the stairs instead.
At the fifteenth floor, she said, "Darling, there's something I need to tell you..."
"Don't say a word, sweetheart. Just hold me and kiss me!"
He carried on climbing. At the twenty-fifth floor, she tried again. "Darling, I really must tell you something!"
"Not now! Nothing else matters. Just hold me," he said, clutching her tightly.
Finally, staggering with exhaustion, he reached the thirty-fifth floor. They stopped outside their room.
"Darling, give me the key," he gasped.
"That's what I was trying to tell you! You picked me up so quickly at reception that I never got the chance to take it."
