The Bicycle Wants to Overtake
A racing cyclist was riding along a highway when he became too exhausted to go any farther. He stopped and tried to hitch a ride home.
A man in a sports car pulled over and offered to tow him. "Tie your bike to the car, and ring your bell if I'm going too fast," he said.
They had not gone far when another sports car overtook them. Annoyed, the driver accelerated to get back in front. Soon the two men were racing, completely forgetting the unfortunate cyclist behind them.
They sped past a traffic police checkpoint and ignored the officer's whistle. He radioed the next checkpoint:
"Two sports cars are heading your way at 250 kilometres an hour. And you're not going to believe this—there's a bicycle behind them, ringing its bell like mad and trying to overtake!"
