On the Cross
Jesus was nailed to a cross on a hill. A crowd watched from below, including Saint Peter.
"Peter! Peter! I must tell you something!" Jesus called desperately.
Peter pushed through the crowd and ran up the hill, but Roman soldiers immediately stopped him, beat him severely, and threw him back down.
"Peter! Peter! I need to tell you something!" Jesus called again.
Full of devotion, Peter tried once more. He nearly got past the soldiers, but they caught him, beat him again, and threw him down.
Jesus kept calling, "Peter! Peter! I need to tell you something. Come up here!"
Heartbroken by those desperate cries, Peter charged up the hill. This time he got through the soldiers, covered in blood. He knelt beside Jesus.
"Yes, I'm here. What do you wish to tell me, Lord?"
Jesus smiled. "Look, you can see the roof of my house from here!"
