The Bet
Two wealthy men went to the horse races in Monaco. One asked, "How many yachts do you own?"
"Two."
"Not much! I've got three."
"Then let's bet on horse number five."
"Agreed." They bet two hundred thousand US dollars, and number five won.
A little later, one asked, "How many private jets do you have?"
"Three."
"Only three? I've got four."
"Let's back number seven, then!" They bet five hundred thousand dollars, and number seven won.
Later still: "A delicate question: how many times a night can you do it?"
"Four."
"That's nothing. I manage five."
"Then we'll bet on number nine!"
"Of course!" They put all their money on number nine, but this time number two finished first.
Stunned by the loss, one sighed, "I wish I'd told the truth."
"Yes. I should have too."
