A couple were celebrating their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. After reminiscing about their happy memories, the husband asked, "Tell me honestly: have you ever been unfaithful to me?"
"Since you've asked, I'll tell you the truth. Three times."
"What happened?"
"The first time was shortly after we married. You had heart trouble and urgently needed surgery, but we had no money. I agreed to it so the doctor would operate on you for free."
"How noble of you. And the second time?"
"Remember when you nearly missed out on becoming head of sales? I had to arrange a private meeting with the general director."
"I'm ashamed. I should have handled that myself. And the third time? Another debt I can never repay, I'm sure."
"Don't say that. We're husband and wife; I must do everything I can to help you. Three years ago, you wanted so badly to become president of the golf club, but you were fifty-one votes short..."
