A Clever Driver
A woman was driving when a police officer pulled her over for speeding and asked to see her driver's license.
"I don't have one, officer. It was confiscated the fourth time I was caught driving drunk."
The officer's expression hardened. "This is serious. Let me see the vehicle registration."
"I don't have that either. This isn't my car. I stole it from my boss's garage after killing him. His body is still in the trunk."
Stunned, the officer stepped back, put his hand on his gun, and radioed for backup. When help arrived, the police chief approached with his gun ready and ordered the woman out of the car. She cheerfully complied.
"Madam, this officer says you told him there's a body in your trunk. Please open it."
She opened the trunk and pretended to be surprised that it was empty. Equally surprised, the chief continued, "Please show me your license and registration."
She took both documents from her purse and handed them over.
His tone softened. "Please forgive me. I don't know what to say. That officer told me you had no license, no registration, and a dead body in the trunk."
The woman smiled and shrugged. "I suppose he told you I was speeding, too?"
